Saturday,
January 9th, marked the conclusion of our 7th annual Big Buck Challenge.
Cold temperatures did little to deter the crowd, which rivaled those of years
past.
The festivities kicked off at 2PM with lots of door
prizes given away. Heartland Honda, Busch Beer, Outdoor America, Bo's
Skull Cleaning, Art's Place, Alternative Pest Control, and Marvin's IGA all
provided prizes to be given away. Shellie Walker won a $100 Mountain Man
Gift Card. Cody Swafford won a
Main
Street Camo Guitar and stand. Teresa Stewart and Rick Bohonek both won a
men's diamond ring. Johnny Schader and Jesse Coleman both won a women's
diamond ring, while Bill Kirk won a new Horton crossbow. Even the kids in
the crowd got a chance to win. Marge was at the Big Wheel where the prizes
ranged from a $1 coin to DVD's to Mountain Man gift cards. Congratulations
to all of our prize winners and thanks to all of our sponsors.
Then came what everyone was waiting for. While new
Arkansas Game & Fish check-in rules resulted in fewer entries in this year's Big
Buck Challenge, the entries were no less spectacular than in year's past.
Kenn Young of Monster Whitetails of Arkansas provided the official Boone &
Crockett scores for our eight finalists. Carlos Ford's buck took
first
place and won him a new ATV from Heartland Honda. David Dunlap won a
Savage .308 rifle with his second place buck. Cliff Eggert's third place
winner snagged him a $200 Mountain Man gift card, and Clarence Carson received a
$100 Mountain Man gift card for his fourth place finisher. Chad
Thornberry, James Hawkins, Steven Fuller, and Robert Williams rounded out the
eight finalists.
Lots of photo taking and story telling followed the presentation and brought the Big Buck Challenge Finale to its finale. Until the following weekend, when Dwayne McClellan would win a new ATV given away by Heartland Honda.
Back to the Big Buck Challenge 2009 winners.
